01 Ruled Columns

No plates at all: the two pillars as flat ruled columns — a heavy ink rule over each, a shared hairline down the middle, chips set as a ruled roster instead of pills. The quietest, most editorial read.

02 Deep Water

The section inverted onto a deep-blue band: frosted plates over a ghosted rose, translucent chips, the dashed course line kept from the live plates. Makes the pillars the page's weight moment — the neighboring bands would need rebalancing.

03 Twin Portholes

Ceremonial: each pillar led by a ringed porthole medallion breaching the plate's top edge (direction 07), with everything centered beneath it. Reads as a matched pair of instruments.

04 Ship's Manifest

A stacked full-width ledger on paper: each service is one wide row — name and action leading, the brief in the middle, chips trailing right — with hairline rules carrying the eye across. Scales naturally if a third service line ever lands.

05 Meridian

A diptych: the section splits into two full-bleed halves meeting at a vertical seam — chart-grid paper against deep blue, service names at display scale, chips scattered like compass points, a rose interlocking off each side of the seam. Wildcard — bends layout/motif conventions; brand palette and Playfair/Rubik only.
